How Green the Grass
This one was actually a surprise to me. I'd forgotten about it. I'm quite glad I found it again because I really, really like it. I'm going to have to remember the tune because I remember really loving that as well.
If there ever was a poem that I thought described me, it would be this one. It's my journey, but also the nature? Sky? The birds? Flying? Imagination. That's was me. My dreams. My soul. Still is. Funny that hasn't changed in a decade.
How Green the Grass - Fall 2013
Chorus
Remember how green the grass was?
Remember how blue the sky?
Remember you watched the birds
and wished that you could fly?
First Verse
But now it's gone.
The world is black around you.
You cannot see
the things imagination grew.
Your path is set,
one long strip of brick and mortar.
Your eyes are straight,
ahead so you can't see
the love and beauty.
Chorus
Remember how green the grass was?
Remember how blue the sky?
Remember you watched the birds
and wished that you could fly?
Second Verse
So open up
and see the world around you.
Then you will see
the seeds imagination blew.
Your path winds on
a field of flowers and sunshine.
Your eyes rove up
and round so you can see
the love and beauty.
Chorus
Discover how green the grass is.
Discover how blue the sky.
Look up and watch the birds
and dream that you can fly.
Third Verse
Help others see
the things that they've been wanting
and you will see
the seeds you planted bloom.
The world's a field
of people needing love now.
Keep lifting up,
give aid, and you will be
love and beauty.
Chorus
Show them how green the grass is.
Tell them how blue the sky.
Help them watch the birds
and believe that they can fly.
Be love and beauty.
