Esther's Lullaby
There's actually not a lot to say about this one. To be honest, I can't really remember what inspired it. I don't know for sure when I wrote it. I couldn't figure out how to start it. I knew what I wanted to say, but couldn't work out how to lead into the message. So I left it with a chorus and the last two verses. I don't remember the tune anymore. Something soft but fervent, I think.
Esther's Lullaby - Summer 2013
First Verse
Oh my child, sweet child, asleep in your crib.
You are far too precious for this world where you live.
God's noble son, my little boy,
if only each moment could be filled with joy.
Alas, in this life you will face pain and grief,
But no matter what comes, please trust and believe.
Chorus
That I love you, don't you know that it's true?
I love you and I'll see you through.
I love you, there's nothing you could do,
That would ever change my love for you.
Second Verse
There are so many things I want to explain.
So many words trying to take away pain.
I want so much to feel just what you feel.
To be there when you cry and help you to heal.
But since I cannot stop the hardships foretold,
There is one precious truth I want to bestow.
Chorus
I love you, don't you know that it's true?
I love you and I'll see you through.
I love you, there's nothing you could do,
That would ever change my love for you.
Bridge
I want to hold you tight and never let go.
I want to squeeze so hard that you'll always know.
That I love you and I'll see you through
No matter what is troubling you.
Third Verse
Sadly, my child, I do not know
Everything that you think, all the suffering known.
But if it's any help, there is someone with you.
A Savior who knows all the things that you do.
And if I know Him well, He is talking right now
Telling you softly what He wants you to know.
Chorus
That He loves you, don't you know that it's true?
Yes, He loves you and He'll help you through.
There isn't one thing you could ever do
That would ever change His love for you.
