Albert and Freddy
I wrote this poem as a letter for my brother one day when I couldn't think of anything to say. It's a true story put to rhyme, intended to provide you with a laugh and a smile.
The Story of Albert and Freddy
Albert
lived in a crack in the wall,
so
cozy and warm, safe and small.
Until
one day, he took quite a fall
into
the boxes below.
For
Albert of course, it was quite a soft landing.
'Twas
not long at all before Albert was standing.
A
smart guy was Albert, so he began searching
his
way to the open air.
Once
free of constraint he was disoriented.
His
sense of direction was warped and quite dented.
To
the lusts of his nose he finally reletned,
and
started coming my way.
Two
yards away I was hard at work
trying
to settle a desigining quirk.
I
took no heed for what behind me might lurk,
as
I hummed a tune in my mind.
I
heard a scuffle and turned around,
and
there was Albert upon the ground.
Too
startled to move or make a sound,
I
knew I'd found a friend!
“Albert!”
I cried, “How are you my dear?”
And
oh! How he ran away in great fear.
His
startled reaction brought to me a tear,
for
he was a really cute mouse.
Now
that would be the end of this song
had
darling Freddy not come along.
Of
course his career, he'd chosen quite wrong,
and
became a source of speculation.
Freddy,
you see, was by nature a thief.
Bred
and born with a firm belief
of
ne'er turning o'er a new leaf.
Well
see how it ended for him.
He
found his way to a plastic house
specially
designed for his type of mouse.
Chewing
and scratching our attention he roused
as
he munched on his special green poison.
We
heard no more from Albert the rodent,
and
from Freddy was left just a nasty scent.
So
from this poem I will finally relent.
And
let you get back to your life.
